Quick Update!

Things are continuing on in my world. I was laid off last October and I've been job hunting ever since. Also I created a YouTube channel. More on that in another blog entry.

I've been writing but not as much as I should. This is something I'm taking steps to fix.

Life! Don't Talk To Me About Life!

This post title comes from the classic silly song,

Life has been crazy for me lately.

I've worked at the same job for the last six years. I'm a CAD drafter for URS. Their Northern Utah branch disposes of hazardous weapons. I use a program called Microstation to produce and edit electrical, piping, mechanical, HVAC and architectural plans.

URS has been under contract to dispose of chemical weapons for the government and we're all done. The lay offs have begun and my RIF (reduction in force) will be October 18th. It's scary. I mean, I'm glad I actually have a date, but what if I can't find a job before then? Sure, they'll give us severance and such, but I'm scared.

So I haven't been able to really find the time to write or edit. A lot of my time is spent on the job hunt or my regular work or my family. When I do have down time I've chosen to relax instead of engaging my brain.

But I'm going to try to do better so all I can do is ask you to bear with me for a bit.

Update!

Hey gentle readers!

My sweetheart had a hysterectomy late Thursday. She's home and recovering. The kids and I have been helping her a great deal. In a couple weeks she should be feeling much better.

As for my writing, I'm a couple chapters away from finishing my edits on the Roland chapters of Dark Changes (Book Two). Then I'm going to write a prologue and edits a couple things in the Annabelle chapters. After that I'll be all finished and ready to ship it to my beta readers.

I should write some pre-posts for this blog. I'm due to do Who's Whos and Bite of Stories for the next few weeks but between helping my sweetie, editing and working, my time is pretty strapped.

I promise not to keep you without new posts for very long.

Hello gentle beings!

Yes, I've been away for awhile. Currently it feels like everything is happening at once. My position is set to be dissolved at work in over a year. My job has always been temporary. I draft for a government contractor and their mission is finished. The lay offs have begun and I'm set for 2013.

My aged father has had poor health. He lives in Fresno California while we live in Northern Utah. With the upcoming job change, it's a good time to job search and a good time to search near my dad. So a lot of my time has been spent job hunting.

Meanwhile I've been reading the Hunger Games series. Couldn't put it down. That took some time, too. I've also been reviewing a fellow critique group member's work so that also takes time.

All in all I haven't had a lot of timer to write or blog. I hope to fix that soon.

On the writing front, I got my mark ups back for Book 2 of Annabelle's series. There are lots of continuity errors and other issues. I'm hearing that it's too bloody for the Middle Grade age group. Of course we all know Jr High students read older books like Hunger Games (an example of something far more bloody and violent) but I am marketing the Annabelle series for Middle Grade (11-14 year olds) so I need to be sure it's right for them.

Needless to say I'm lost and confused on the issue. I've decided to take a break from writing about Annabelle and focus on another story idea.

So there you have it. Crazy times indeed. I'll post more real soon.
